AutoCAD

Problem: AutoCAD templates, plot styles, or tool palettes are missing.

Solution: Reconnect by accessing AutoCAD Options

Steps:

  1. Type “Options” at the command prompt and hit enter.

  2. A dialog box will pop up and select the first “Files” tab.

  3. Scroll down to the appropriate heading:

    • Plot Styles are listed under Printer Support Files

    • Drawing Template Files are listed under Template Settings

    • Tool Palettes have their own heading.

  4. Reset or Add the file location for each one separately.

Note: They are all located on the Server on the netapps drive in the Autocad folder.

You can also copy each of these onto your own computer and reset the paths to that location (where ever you choose to put them). This way you will not lose them when working from home and lose connection to the VPN or are working directly on your computer and not on the network.

Problem: AutoCAD hatching is slowing down your computer while working remotely.

Solution:Save hatch assets locally and reset path.

Steps:

  1. Copy and paste the following into the address bar of Windows File Explorer: N:\AutoCAD Standards

  2. Copy the "Hatches" folder to your desktop or anywhere on your local hard drive.

  3. In the command prompt in AutoCAD, type “Options” and press Enter.

  4. A dialog box will pop up and select the first “Files” tab.

  5. Under the heading — Support File Search Path — select Reset or Add a File Location and point to the location where you copied the hatches folder.
